Many civic and cultural groups have been working for a long time on the Frisco Discovery Center, and the grand unveiling happens on October 1. Very Important Art Supporters should be there!

“So, it’s summer,” you say, “and I want a Savvy place to party, Frisco Savvy. I’m a grownup and I would like a nice cocktail in the company of grownups. So whaddayagot?” How about the grand opening of a swank new club?

Patriarch’s Sanctuary is a new bar opening on Frisco Square this weekend. We’ve toured the place, so if gorgeous European antiques, hand-scraped woods, artisan stained glass, custom cocktails, and a baby grand piano are your thing, we can safely say you’re going to love it. There are no televisions on the wall; if you absolutely can’t tear yourself away from The Game or The News, you’ll have to go elsewhere… but in our humble opinion, that’s a plus, not a minus.

Around here, we make no secret of our appreciation for libations. A fine cocktail with friends is the last outpost of civilization in this modern world, and Frisco Savvy will promote that sort of fellowship until the end of days. If you’re of like mind, check out this recent blog post from the New York Times’ spirits blog, The Pour.

‘Tis the season, so for those of you who don’t think about sparkling wines the rest of the year, get ready for bubbles! Here are some helpful articles, links and tips on Champagne for the holidays—more than you ever wanted or needed to know about the greatest wine ever.

Modmix Beverages makes divine cocktail mixers from organic ingredients, and you must step away from the computer and run (do not walk) to obtain some.
