Fall Into Fall
Friday Night: The annual Chili Challenge benefitting the Frisco Education Foundation happens on Friday, September 24 at 5:00 pm at the Gold Lot at Pizza Hut Park. For $5, you can sample all the chili entries of each competing FISD campus. The event is kid-friendly, lots of fun, and raises money for FISD student scholarships. There are hot dogs for sale, in case you (or your kiddo) isn’t a chili fan.
Then, walk on over to the stadium and enjoy some Friday Night Lights, Frisco-style! The Wakeland Wolverines take on the Frisco Raccoons in what will certainly be a spirited district rivalry. (Can’t catch the game live? Listen to the play-by-play on Radio Free Frisco, the voice of Frisco sports!)
Saturday: Pumpkin patch photos, pet photos and more fun will be available from 12 – 5 pm at the Frisco Mercantile’s Fall Festival. Get a jump on holiday shopping… and your Christmas card pics!Saturday night: It’s finally time for the North Texas music festival that everyone is talking about (no, really—check out this article in the Dallas Observer): Oysterfest at Lochrann’s Pub on Main Street.
As a long-time aficionado of live music (no, really—my first date with my husband was to a concert at Gruene Hall), let me assure you that Oysterfest is going to be completely, wholly legit. 20 bands on two stages…. and this is an impressive lineup for any fall music concert, but even more impressive because Frisco is not known as a “music town” like Denton or Austin. (Well, not yet, anyway.)
Bonus: part of the proceeds will benefit Fishermen Of the Gulf and Gulf Aid.
So enjoy these last warm, breezy days by heading out into the community. Whether you want to sup, shop or sing along, there’s something happening this weekend to feed your need.
