Cool Off Cake

Before summer ends and school starts, have a family fun night with this easy ice cream cake

The summer grows shorter and shorter, but temperatures are still too high to bear?

Cool down the family with this fun frozen dessert that can be made with any flavor of ice cream you like.

Crushed Oreos, hot fudge sauce and butter make up the chocolate crust, and then a layer of ice cream, and a layer of Cool Whip for super-creamy goodness.

Top it with sprinkles, chocolate syrup, caramel—or candy chunks for extra decadence, like crushed Reese’s mini cups, M&Ms or Heath bar.

Or go slightly healthier: substitute Reduced-Fat Oreos, low-fat ice cream, and sprinkle strawberry chunks atop the Cool Whip topping.

(Mind you, that’s not going to make this thing “low fat” in any way… it will only reduce the amount of caloric destruction. But hey, every little bit helps.)

Note: This would be a super-easy recipe to let your tweens or teens make for a sleepover.

Take a cake break… chill out!
