Sweet Feet
First, spring for an “all-the-way” pedicure, with extra callous removal, paraffin dip or mask, hot stone massage… all the bells and whistles. It’s not practical as an everyday pamper session, but consider it a seasonal treatment—like dry cleaning your wool coat before putting it in storage.
Our favorite nail salons in North Dallas include Starwood Nail Salon at Shops at Starwood in Frisco, Celebrity Nails at Shops at Legacy in Plano, and Tip to Toe Nail in Plano at Preston/Parker. We’ve also heard great things about Zen Nail and Beauty Bar on Legacy in Frisco, and Escape Nails in Allen.
Then, once the pros have got your paws in shape, keep them that way with plenty of moisture. Sleep in softening socks like these from Bliss, and keep lotion on hand (and foot!) to make sure you don’t get ugly cracked heels and dried cuticles.
As for pedi colors, it’s time to dump those dreary winter darks and mattes and spring for spring! Metallics are still very big this season (thanks to the Minx trend), as are resort colors like aqua, peach and watermelon. We also love: this coral from Essie called “Tart Deco“… this soft green from OPI called “Jade is the New Black“… and the whole “Up and Away” collection from China Glaze, beautiful glossy colors like helium balloons (check out this raspberry “Heli-Yum” shade—yum indeed!)
Now, what to cradle those colorful new toes in? Hit up Saks Fifth Avenue at Willow Bend for their “Perfect Pair” event on Thursday, April 8, to preview what’s hot in flip-flops and sandals, while you nosh on wine and cheese.
For casual, we still love the ultra-comfortable Havaianas flip-flops, which are practically like being barefoot in public. Tory Burch has some cute ‘flops this season too.
Sandals embellished with stones, gems, flowers and beads are everywhere this spring. Nautical accents are hot too.Another 2010 sandal trend is a big cuff at the ankle… it’s almost like the 2009 bootie and gladiator sandal got together and had a love child.
Whatever your sandal style, it’s time to get those pretty feet out there. Your toes want to feel the sun just like your shoulders do! So bring on the spring, and let your feet come out to play in Savvy sandals and terrific toes.
