Local Gems

Panacea has baubles and bijoux for any budget

Panacea has baubles and bijoux for any budget

This weekend, we found two swell new shops that you have to put on your list to check out. Both are at the Shops at Watters Creek in Allen, and both are locally owned, unique to the Metroplex, and full of treasures!

The word “panacea” means something that solves all your problems… and if your jewelry box is feeling glum, Panacea the store can certainly solve that! They carry all kinds of accessories, including bags, scarves, headbands and hair clips, but it’s the jewelry where they really shine. They have pieces that are fun, funky, elegant, sophisticated, trendy, bohemian, classic and every adjective in between.

The best part at Panacea is the prices, though. Every single cute thing I picked up cost much less than I was expecting when I looked at the tag, usually by 50% or more.

And the shop itself is a glamorous experience, with chandeliers, good lighting and pretty displays. So much nicer than the bargain-basement warehouse atmosphere of most of the DFW discount accessory stores. (You know the ones I mean—don’t make me say it out loud.)

Then, just a hop and a skip down the sidewalk from Panacea is Jean Junkie, a premium denim shop carrying names like Adriano Goldschmied, Rock Revival, Toms, and Havaianas.

But in addition to their excellent jeans selection, Jean Junkie also supports local artists, like Let It B Designs, who makes fantastic bracelets and necklaces in this earthy, organic style that just makes you want to braid your hair and sit around a campfire. Perfect for the mom who needs to rock the “I’m busy and practical but also stylish and chic” aesthetic.

So, with the weather we’re having, there’s no excuse to keep hiding out inside the mall. Head out to the Shops at Watters Creek and hit up some of these local gems!
