Fine Unwinding

Patriarch's Sanctuary Bar opens this weekend at Frisco Square

Patriarch's Sanctuary Bar opens this weekend at Frisco Square

We love Frisco, and the North Texas area in general… but there’s a reason that a lot of people still drive all the way down to Dallas for a grownups’ night out.

The family-friendly focus by businesses up here is perfect when you need to feed the tribe… but when Mom and Dad want a date night where they can dress up, have a couple of adult beverages, and reconnect without the kiddos… good luck finding a location for that. There are very few places up here that are targeted to grownups—with a sophisticated atmosphere where you won’t get handed crayons with your menu.

(Sure, we’ve got sports bars with half-dressed girls out the wazoo, but us ladies can attest that that’s not what we have in mind for “date night”)

Enter Patriarch’s Sanctuary, a new bar opening on Frisco Square this weekend. Despite several red-tape delays in getting off the ground, Patriarch’s is finally ready to open its doors.

We’ve toured the place, so if gorgeous European antiques, hand-scraped woods, artisan stained glass, custom cocktails, and a baby grand piano are your thing, we can safely say you’re going to love it. There are no televisions on the wall; if you absolutely can’t tear yourself away from The Game or The News, you’ll have to go elsewhere… but in our humble opinion, that’s a plus, not a minus.

The full bar will offer wine, beer and cocktails—and is going to focus on Scotches, gins and Champagnes, with tastings and flights so you can not just chug the stuff, but learn about it.

Want to check it out for yourself? The grand opening party is this Saturday night. It’s by invitation only… but we happen to know that you can get an invitation by visiting the website and providing your email address so they can get in touch with you.

We’ll be there, and we’ll surely have our camera handy so check back for more scoop next week. (The soft opening a couple weeks back was quite a Frisco Who’s Who, so we expect the grand opening will be too)

Warning—the website plays music when you open it up (it’s pretty music, but still music), so hit “mute” if you’re in the office: Patriarch’s website.

A place for adults to share conversation and cocktails, sans crayons? How civilized!
