Put This On is a gentlemen’s fashion blog about “dressing like a grownup.” Their demographic skews <35 and hipster… but the site is still chock-full of info that is educational for Savvy dressers of any age.

For example, here they write up a classic men’s shoe style:

This style of shoe is called a blucher here in the states (or a derby in the UK). It’s distinguished by the open lacing – notice that rather than the laces pulling together two sides of one piece of leather, they pull together two separate pieces of leather. Generally these are more casual than the alternative, the balmoral, which is why I wouldn’t wear these with a suit.

And here is a timely little nugget about Canadian tartans. This is all useful, interesting stuff about timeless style for gents.

But my fave feature is their regular column called “It’s on eBay” where they spot excellent vintage threads up for auction. How can you resist Victorian abalone cufflinks, vintage wool cardigans, or these fine spectator wingtips?

I’m sure your favorite boy is already perfectly dressed and knows his morning coat from his barn jacket from his blazer and repp tie. But just in case… Put This On provides nudges in the right direction.
