We’ve Got Spirits, Yes We Do!

Bourbon infused with bacon in the PDT Old-Fashioned
If you’re of like mind, check out this recent blog post from the New York Times’ spirits blog, The Pour. They review great cocktail trends of the last decade, and point out recipe highlights while also name-dropping the most innovative bars in the country.
No DFW bars get a mention so we’ll help you out. At Ernie’s Bar at the Westin Stonebriar, ask Paul for an Old-Fashioned like his mama used to drink. Victor Tango’s on Henderson is serving some brilliant cocktails, like the eponymous “Victor Tango”—made with English cucumber, local mint, El Tesoro Platinum Tequila, freshly squeezed lime juice, and homemade simple syrup (all their mixers are made fresh in-house).
And of course we’ve gone on at great length about the creative scratch cocktails being poured at TruFire in the Shops at Starwood—our faves are still the Black Splash and the Savvy Fix.
And a great read for Dallas-area drinking is Kevin Gray’s blog at the Examiner.
So if you aren’t bothering with any sort of teetotalling resolutions (much like us), get out there and find a watering hole that is serving up something special.
