Trees For Troops
Trees For Troops is a service program that brings live Christmas trees to active-duty military families, and ships trees out to troops in service around the world. With the help of FedEx, last year they shipped over 17,000 trees out to troops and their families, at over 50 military bases.
You can help by purchasing a tree for the program, for $40. The deadline is Sunday, December 6— they need time to get the trees delivered. Two North Texas locations are participating: the Christmas Traditions tree lots, in Frisco at 4875 Preston (across from Tom Thumb, map), or in McKinney at 1301 South Central Expressway (map).
This would be an excellent opportunity to get your kids involved in giving to others. You can talk to them about children whose mom or dad might be away overseas at the holidays, helping keep America safe— and how it’s important that those kids get to have a great Christmas too. (check out the video below for interviews with “Trees for Troops” recipients)
You can also help out by sending the story out to your friends, via our “Email this!” link below.
Thanks to our Savvy friend Sherri for sharing the news about this great service opportunity with us! Don’t forget… you too can always send us your Savvy sightings and scoops.
