Silk Tunic with Leggings

Silk Tunic with Leggings

Half the battle with style is knowing what looks good on you. The other half is pulling what looks good on you together into complete looks, an outfit that both flatters your figure and has impact.

One Savvy way to find looks you like and can achieve is to see what the stylists are doing. Some of the fashion mags are good for this… although all too often they are pulling in over-the-top designers and pieces that real people don’t wear. (I mean, really. This is gorgeous, but you’re not going to slap it on to go to an FFL game, am I right?)

This is where e-shopping comes in. Thanks to the internet we can shop anytime of day or night from the comfort of our couch, from any store or designer. We can browse for wild, conservative, splurge, practical, couture, bleeding edge, cozy, glamorous or daytime… and gather inspiration along the way. You don’t have to actually buy, of course! Think of these online shopping forays as research. But there are a million fashion websites, so where to start?

We found two great online portfolios of style to sample for ideas.

Saks Fifth Avenue has put together a collection called “Rock the Party” which features evening looks from ultra-casual (like this sheer silk tunic with chain detail from 7 For All Mankind) to after-5. I love how you can mouseover the image to see the back view of the outfit!

And Neiman-Marcus has created a collection especially for cool weather, of cozy looks that will keep you both warm and fabulous. Notice it’s all about the high boots and shooties in this set.

You can shop without spending— but of course if you found something you simply had to have, you can almost always click through to the outfit’s page and purchase the pieces. (Both Saks and Neiman’s are both offering free or discounted shipping right now. We’re just saying.)

Being an informed shopper, who knows her style, budget and options, will save you money in the long run. And you’ll up your style quotient too.

So, to recap: shopping online, even if you aren’t buying right then, will save you money and make you more stylish. If that isn’t Savvy, I don’t know what is!
