Do You Need a Savvy Fix Fix?

The lovely Nola from TruFire, showing off her creation: the Savvy Fix

At Thursday night’s party, there was one question (and beverage!) on everyone’s lips: “what is in this yummy signature cocktail, and where can we get more of it?”

The Savvy Fix was created exclusively for us by the staff at TruFire, who specialize in chef-style cocktails made with fresh juices and homemade mixers.

We sat down with Nola Tomlinson (pictured) in September, and explained that we needed something special for our party, and it must be made with 360 Vodka. She was already familiar with 360 since TruFire has it in their bar, and promised she’d work her magic.

And, if the number of pictures we did not post on the web were any indicator… the Savvy Fix was indeed magic! It goes down all too easy. The Savvy Fix is made with the super-smooth 360 Vodka, fresh-squeezed oranges, fresh lemon, and a homemade syrup infused with vanilla and ginger… shaken and strained over rocks, then topped off with a splash of 7-Up. It’s sweet but not-too, and the hint of ginger adds a certain je ne sais quoi, something a little less than spicy but definitely a zing.

This would even be lovely as a non-alcoholic beverage— since reports from… ahem… the field… indicate that you can’t really taste the alcohol anyway.

The name comes from “Frisco Savvy” (obvs), and from an old-fashioned cocktail naming convention. Back in the day, you could just order a flip, or a fizz, or a sour, or a highball, and call your liquor. The bartender (not a “mixologist”, thankyouverymuch) knew the correct preparation and ingredients simply from the name. And a fix was liquor, citrus and sugar… which was basically the profile of our custom cocktail from TruFire.

The only catch to this delicious and potent potable is that the ginger-vanilla infusion is not available in stores; it’s made from scratch at TruFire Kitchen and Bar. So you’ll have to go in and ask for the Savvy Fix. Tell them we sent you!

And Nola is the best cocktail CHEF, or artist, in town! TruFire is definitely my favorite place! Especially for the service and specialty drinks!
